John Linnehan, Chair, began the meeting at 5:00 pm.
Welcomed all, stating that we have a lot to cover in order to win in November.
Opening Pledge of Allegiance to Our Great Republic of America led by State Representative Russ White.
Opening Prayer to our Heavenly Father in Jesus Name given by John Linnehan.
Opening statement from chairman Linnehan:
Our Ellsworth Republican Committee's number 1 priority is electing 2 Republicans to our Ellsworth City Council on November 3rd Sadly, we have currently a 5-2 majority of liberal socialists who are spending and taxing our city into financial disaster on city council. Gladly, we now have 2 excellent conservative candidates who will be focusing on that one key area of lowering Ellsworth's property taxes by spending our finances wisely. FYI, I took out papers to run but will not tum them in. We cannot afford to split the vote any longer, we must have a strategy that wins control of the council. Therefore, I proudly introduce to you today our next 2 Ellsworth city councilors:
Tiffany Gaspar
Robert C. Grant Sr., best known to lifelong residents like me as Robbie!
Tiffany and Robbie were given time to share with the committee their vision as city councilors and strategy for the upcoming election. How can we help you succeed in this endeavor?
Next, chair John Linnehan introduced city council member Steve O'Halloran. Noting that there would be a 4-3 majority if Tiffany and Robbie were elected, joining Steve and Councilor Pat Shea as voices of reason with spending and property taxes, and asking what our Ellsworth Republicans can do to make your mission to reduce the excessive property taxes successful for Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth?
John L. reports that he has taken out papers for the Ellsworth school board, asking those in attendance to be the first to sign his nomination papers. John notes that 56.77% of Ellsworth's income, mostly through property taxes, goes to fund our school system. We need to elect financially responsible Republicans to our local school board. There are 2 school board openings this year, and John is asking who will join him and get involved. This committee will give you the support you need to win.
Our vice chairman, Chuck Leavitt, and our treasurer Melinda Workman, have worked hard in implementing an excellent local fund-raising raffle and shared an update. The two fundraiser cars have a value of $603. So far, $2,130 has been raised with a total balance of $2,855 with a goal amount 6-8 thousand dollars. It was decided that they will be selling tickets through Autumn Gold days.
Brian Langley shared, donated some items he received at the Presidential Inauguration i.e. hats, etc ... then John passed the red MAGA hat around for donations to the ERC.
Gordon Workman spoke regarding potential candidates for school board.
Russ White and Cheryl Hewes need our help in their campaigns, $5 donations, door knocking, etc.
Dr Ruth Mooregave a brief presentation showing why Ellsworth is in crisis
Closing prayer
Meeting adjourned at 6:00pm.
Respectively submitted,
Rhonda Loncto, Secretary
John Linnehan, chairman, opened the meeting promptly at 6pm.
The invocation was given by Robert Wessels.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Corey Bagley.
There were 22 total attendees, consisting of 14 Ellsworth Republicans and 8 guests, 2 of which were guest speakers.
Guest speakers were Corey Bagley, who is running for Hancock County Sheriff and Robert Wessels, who is running for Governor of the great state of Maine. An opportunity was given for questions.
Announcements:
The Hancock County Republican Caucus is on March 7th at the Moore Community Center. John asks that each Ellsworth Republican Committee member attend as he will be having the ERC caucus to elect all 16 Ellsworth delegates to the HCRC. This is also an opportunity to sign up to attend the State convention in April. A total of 33 delegates are needed from Hancock County.
A reminder that the primary is June 9th. You are encouraged to support those that you feel would be best to lead in local, state and nation but at the end of the day, we need to support the Republican party. So get out and vote and encourage others to do the same.
An opportunity was given for any in attendance that is running for office to say a few words. Steve Juskewich is running for D.A., and stated that he is unenrolled. John reminded the group that the ERC will only support Republicans.
John closed in prayer.
Meeting adjourned at 7:25pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Rhonda Loncto, Secretary

Meeting called to order at 6:00 PM by John Linnehan, Chair. Opening prayer given by Melinda Workman and Pledge of Allegiance led by Russ White.

Chairman Linnehan then proceeded to state the purpose and duties of this committee as per the bylaws adopted February 26, 2022 which states as follows: "The committee is organized for the purpose of supporting and strengthening the Republican Party. March 7th County Caucus, Saturday 10:00 AM 4:00 PM Moore Community Center April, 24-25 State Convention at the Augusta Civic Center
John asked if there were people planning to run for office. We had several possibilities. John is planning an in-house primary for city council.
John shared that he has a website where information can be shared. You can view this at johnlinnehan.com, the home page has a list of events and dates. You can also select spiritual or political to view more information. It was also suggested that this committee should develop a Facebook page. Russ White suggested the best way to get more members to join is by word of mouth. Invite others to attend the ERC and the HCRC. Another suggested to write letters to the editor. Also Carey Jones with Bar Harbor Story, a free sub-stack will share events.
Donna Leavitt closed the meeting with a word of prayer.
Meeting adjourned at 7:19 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Rhonda Loncto, Secretary
